CLEVELAND - Victims of superstorm Sandy are dealing with another powerful storm. A Nor'easter is bearing down on New York and New Jersey, threatening to flood the homes of families still recovering from last week's megastorm.
As many as 20,000 homes across New York City are still expected to be without power this weekend because of internal electrical damage.
The storm threat has also caused Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to cancel its flights to New York and New Jersey on Wednesday. If you're trying to fly out or expecting someone to fly in, you'll want to check and make sure the flight wasn't delayed or canceled.
On Wednesday night, at least one flight to New Jersey from Cleveland was canceled; however, there were several delays to the east coast. The airport's website says to expect delays and cancelations as severe weather strikes.
FirstEnergy has crews out along the East Coast to finish helping restore power to 2.1 million of the 2.3 million affected across six states.
The utility says most of the 199,000 customers in New Jersey and West Virginia who remain without power will be restored by the end of this weekend.
More than 595 miles of cable and wire, 7,200 utility poles and 3,200 transformers have been used as part of the massive restoration effort.
As round-the-clock restoration efforts continue, FirstEnergy is monitoring changing weather conditions as a nor'easter affects the East Coast. The storm has the potential to slow restoration efforts or cause new outages.
